This 8-hour course covers Free Space Radar, the type of radar most often used to measure liquid level in tanks.  Free Space Radar training is ideal for maintenance and engineering personnel with a basic understanding of electricity and computers. The course provides an in-depth overview on the theory of operation, what applications are suitable and not suitable, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Attendees will also utilize manufacturers’ set-up software for signal analysis and configuration.

Free Space Radar is a combination of classroom and hands-on training utilizing a fully functional radar device at a training station, then practicing on an actual live process demonstrating agitators, turbulence, and dished bottom tanks.

This course will specifically cover:

  • Radar Transmitters
  • Different types of antennas and horns
  • Required tools, interfaces, and software
  • Analyzing Radar signals using oscilloscope view within setup software
  • A discussion on different software packages
  • Radar Applications (Good and Bad)
  • Troubleshooting and Repair
  • Set-up and commission of Radar Level instruments
  • Electronic backup on a device
  • Device Configuration
