Eastern Controls, Inc. was founded in 1969. In that year, the company opened a sales office outside of Philadelphia as a manufacturer’s representative for Masoneilan, a major manufacturer of process control valves and instrumentation. In the years that immediately followed, the company signed on to represent several other prominent manufacturers of process control equipment and expanded its sales force accordingly.
In 1978, having established a significant sales presence in the Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, DC areas, the company opened a second sales office in Towson, Maryland. A third sales office opened in 1987 in northern New Jersey to cover the greater New York Metropolitan area. By 1980, with its reputation firmly established as the leading manufacturer’s representative for process control equipment in its territory, Eastern Controls continued to attract other major manufacturing firms looking for the best possible sales channel.
Propelled by the continued growth of its business in the 1990s, Eastern Controls found itself in need of more space for its offices, warehousing and service and repair capabilities. In 1997, ECI relocated to its current location in Edgemont, Pennsylvania, which offers 33,000 square feet of space and ample room for continued expansion.
Through the years, ECI’s strong relationships with its early principals have remained a cornerstone of ECI’s success. At the same time, the company has continued to build new alliances with manufacturers. Together, these alliances enable ECI to offer the marketplace a diverse and complementary line of process control and instrumentation equipment.
In late 2008 the company began a major overhaul of its service & repair facilities. Upgrades included the addition of a machine shop, a fully automated Media Blasting Center, enhanced painting booths, and new specialized individual work stations. These enhancements along with our strong commitment to QC continue the company’s commitment to be “the leading edge” full service supplier in our trading area. As the watershed year of 2009 came to a close, Masoneilan, a major principal, afforded Eastern Controls the opportunity to represent them throughout the state of Virginia. January 1, 2010 saw a combined Virginia-Maryland operations get underway. The firm’s longtime relationship with O’Brien and Burling Regulators were further enhanced to include the Virginia Territory.
On September 1st, 2015, Eastern Controls was appointed the exclusive representative and authorized service provider for Endress+Hauser, one of the largest process management manufacturers. With the addition of Endress+Hauser, the company gained the E+H process PTU (Process Training Unit). The PTU features Endress+Hauser instrumentation and is controlled by Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx system designed for the purpose of educating customer technicians, engineers, customers, and sales personnel. It will be moved into the Edgemont facility in February of 2016.
Eastern Controls, Inc. enjoys a solid reputation as the premier industrial process controls sales and engineering organization in the Mid-Atlantic region and now Midwest. The growth of the company has largely been the result of our highly trained technical sales and service personnel and their in-depth knowledge of ECI’s product lines and their applications. ECI employees stand ready to meet the demands of a wide variety of process control applications in every industry, including Refining, Pulp & Paper, Power, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, OEM, Environmental, and Semiconductor.
